Managers avoid union recognition

first_imgManagers avoid union recognitionOn 1 Jul 2002 in Personnel Today Senior executives and HR are at odds over how to handle union recognitionbids under the Employment Relations Act 1999, according to research. More than half of all companies try to resist recognition through a varietyof tactics, despite the statutory framework, according to the study byCambridge University’s MIT Institute. But the opposition is coming from senior management, not HR. “Three-quarters of firms resisting unions do so because seniorexecutives oppose recognition. Only a fraction of HR professionals agree,”said Sarah Oxenbridge, at a London conference last month. Related posts:No related photos. Previous Article Next Article Comments are closed. last_img

Bulldog Tracksters Split Battle With Wildcats

first_imgIt was an almost perfect evening for any type of activity, but especially for a track meet.  Hardly any wind, sunny, low 60’s…almost picture perfect and the Batesville High School track team took advantage of it as they hosted the Franklin County Wildcats.  As I was sitting here going through all the individual results I couldn’t believe ALL the personal bests that were performed tonight.  Now, I know that I have a young team and many first time track members making them only have one other meet that their standard was set from, so, that is what went through my mind when I first counting the number of PR’s that were accomplished. Then, as I did a new count, I realized that more than half of the PR’s were from athletes that were on the team last year and they were achieving a personal record better than they ended the season last year.  That is amazing! And VERY exciting! But, before I get to the almost 100 PR’s, let’s talk about the meet. Batesville took a split tonight as the boys defeated FC 72.5-59.5, but the girls went the other way as the Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs 75-57.  The girls only took home 6 blue ribbons as the boys claimed 9, but many individuals took part in those 1st places.Blue ribbons went to:Justin Heiser-long jump (18’9.5″)Adam Bedel-shot put (41’8″)Kent Meyers-high jump (6’0″)Joshua Myers-1600m run (4:41.53)Johnathon Lynch-800m run (2:11.44)Adam Hollowell-3200m run (11:21.91)Gabby Gibbs-shot put (32’5″)Roxie Hund-100m hurdles (17.78)Liz Loichinger-1600m run (5:40.75)Stephanie Nobbe-200m dash (27.05)Lily Pinckley-3200m run (12:34.71)Both 4 x 800m relay teams: Benjamin Moster, Johnathon Lynch, JJ Kuisel and Adam Moster (8:50.31) and Liz Loichinger, Lily Pinckley, Trysta Vierling and Katie Olsen (10:35.9)Boys 4 x 100m relay: Manav Patel, Justin Heiser, Charlie Laymon and Sam Haskamp (46.75)Boys 4 x 400m relay: Adam Moster, Tyler Meyers, Johnathon Lynch and JJ Kuisel (3:37.69)2nd place finishes went to:Adam Bedel-discusGabe Gunter-high jumpAdam Moster-1600m runJJ Kuisel-400m dashJoshua Myers-800m runSam Haskamp-200m dashNathan Villani-3200m runStephanie Nobbe-pole vault and 100m dashLilly Meyer-long jumpCarley Pride-high jump and 400m dashRoxie Hund-300 hurdlesKatie Olsen-800m runAnd the white ribbons went to:Austin Cornn-high jumpZach Gutzwiller-pole vaultChase Hamilton-110m hurdlesSam Haskamp-100m dashDillon Murray-1600m runKavin Saravanan-400m dashTyler Myers-300m hurdlesKatie Bedel-shot putGabby Gibbs-high jumpFaith Tekulve-discusMaria Lopez-1600m runLiz Loichinger-800m runTrysta Vierling-3200m runCongratulations to all award winners above!  Now for the even more fun part!
