Fantasy Injury Updates: Are Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny playing Monday night? (Updated)

first_imgHowever, Penny was added to the injury report late in the week with an ankle injury. Per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Penny didn’t miss any practice time, but he was still listed as questionable. This is certainly an odd development, and it is one that will give a lot of fantasy owners pause before the elect to plug Penny into their lineups as a potential FLEX.In the event that Penny can’t play, Mike Davis would serve as Carson’s backup. Davis looked good in that role early in the season, but he has been buried on the depth chart as a result of the performance of Carson and Penny. He would be a fine backup, though, and could have some upside as a TD-based FLEX play. Still, he would more likely be a guy to stash as a handcuff than anything else. We’ll keep an eye on Penny’s status leading up to the contest. As mentioned earlier, Carroll loves to mess around with his RB rotation, so we won’t know exactly what his plans are for Penny until 90 minutes before kickoff. Week 15 Rankings:Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | KickerIs Chris Carson playing Monday night?UPDATE: Carson is officially ACTIVE.Carson dislocated a finger in the Seahawks’ blowout win over the 49ers last week. While Pete Carroll was optimistic that Carson would play, it’s always best to be wary of Carroll when he discusses RB injuries. That said, Carson is going to suit up on Monday night.Carson logged full practices on Friday and Saturday, according to the Seahawks’ official injury report, and he was listed without any injury designation ahead of Monday’s game. This should put Carson in line to start and see his usual share of the workload. He can be trusted as a low-end RB2 in a tough matchup with the Vikings.MORE WEEK 15: Waiver wire pickups | RB handcuff chartIs Rashaad Penny playing Monday night?UPDATE: Penny is officially ACTIVE.While Carson is certain to suit up against the Vikings, Penny’s status appears to be truly questionable. The Seahawks’ primary backup and change-of-pace option has looked good in recent weeks, and he actually out-produced Carson against the 49ers. Some thought he may be on his way to overtaking Carson or at least earning an even split there. At different points last week, both Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny were on the Seahawks’ injury report. The two lead backs in the Seattle offense were dealing with finger and ankle injuries, respectively. While Carson was on the report early in the week, Penny was a late addition, and that is making many fantasy owners sweat it out as they look to fill out their final lineup spots in Week 14. Pete Carroll’s RB rotation could change at any time, and this start ’em, sit ’em decision could be greatly impacted if either Penny or Carson is a surprise inactive (though it seems that Carson is in no danger of missing the game). We’ll have updates on their respective statuses leading up to the release of the MNF actives/inactives list roughly 90 minutes before kickoff.Throughout the day, we’ll provide you with the latest news on both Carson and Penny’s statuses. Check back in the lead-up to kickoff to get an official answer, and for the latest on Doug Baldwin’s hip, go here.last_img read more
