TouchPad video series shows HPs tablet in action

first_imgLast week we learned that HP’s TouchPad would be landing on July 1st, for the competitive price of $499. The webOS 3.0-powered tablet is the next great hope when it comes to iPad competitors, so it’s great to get some video of the device in action. As it turns out, the tablet looks pretty slick so far–HP made sure to explain just how good webOS is at multitasking, multi-pane views, display multimedia content, and then doing more productive stuff like ebook reading, 3D modeling (check out the image below), using Citrix Receiver, and more. We also see video conferencing and interaction with HP’s Palm handsets. All in all, the TouchPad looks like a versatile device.HP didn’t stop at the getting-to-know-you video either, we can also see TouchPad videos highlighting notifications (below), a Time Magazine demo, TouchPad Synergy, wireless charging, and a whole lot more. You can view them all at HP’s YouTube channel.AdChoices广告So far, the TouchPad is somewhat reminiscent of RIM’s QNX-powered PlayBook. Of course it might be more accurate to say that the PlayBook reminds us of webOS, but RIM got their device out first so they get the credit… even if RIM seems to have released a product that wasn’t ready and HP’s CEO vowed they would not release their tablet until it was perfect.Past that the videos display the PlayBook as being both capable functional, but given the dominance of the iPad, the improvement to the PlayBook, and the growing strength of Android we’ll have to see how this new entrant does with people/businesses that aren’t dedicated HP customers.
