Two of the robberies occurred a single block apart on one street, North Mar Vista Avenue, while the other happened on North Euclid Avenue. The suspects conducted each armed robbery in almost the same fashion – walking up to the victim from behind, threatening the victim with a handgun, and then fleeing in a black SUV with the loot, Pasadena police Watch Commander Lt. Mark Goodman said.Goodman said the first robbery occurred at about 10:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Mar Vista Avenue, when a 26-year-old Pasadena woman was robbed at gunpoint as soon as she arrived home.“The victim was approached by the suspect from behind and pushed to the ground. Once on the ground, the suspect pointed a gun at her, and demanded money,” Goodman said. “The victim gave her gym bag containing her wallet and a cellphone. The suspect walked away north on Mar Vista, entered a black SUV and drove away.”At about 10:52 p.m., a 46-year-old man was robbed as he was walking home in the 600 block of Mar Vista, this time by two male suspects that exited a black SUV as the victim passed by. Goodman said one of the suspects pointed gun at the victim, and another went through his pockets and removed “an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.”“The first suspect was male, black, of thin build, wore dark-colored pants and was armed with a handgun,” Goodman said. “The other was male, black, thin build, and was wearing a black hat. Once they obtained the loss, both suspects entered the SUV and drove away southbound.”Police believe the same suspects, and possibly others who could have stayed in the black SUV, went on to rob another victim, a 30-year-old man, in the 400 block of N. Euclid Avenue, at about 10:54 p.m.“The victim was walking home when one of the suspects walked up to him holding a handgun and demanded his wallet,” Goodman said. “The second suspect grabbed a beige tote bag the victim was holding and that contained his wallet and cellphone.”As in the first two incidents, the suspects entered a black SUV and drove away south. Goodman said the first suspect was in his 20s, black-haired, thin build and wore a red hooded sweatshirt. The other suspect wore a light-colored sweatshirt.Goodman said none of the victims in the three armed robberies required medical treatment, including the woman who was pushed to the ground in the first incident.Goodman said by the descriptions and the modus operandi, the three robberies appeared to be related.“If we catch them, they are going to be charged with assault and also the armed robbery cases,” Goodman said. “At this point, any information [from the public about the suspects] is welcome by the Pasadena Police Department through our 24-hour dispatch line.”Anyone with information about the suspects and the robbery incidents is advised to call (626) 744-4501. Is Beyonce in Talks to Join The Wiz Live!?

first_imgCould Queen Bey reign as the Good Witch of the South? According to Us Weekly, pop goddess Beyoncé is in talks to play Glinda in The Wiz Live!. The NBC telecast will air on December 3.If she is in fact on board, she’d join fellow Grammy winners Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah and Stephanie Mills, who are set to play Evillene, the Wiz and Aunt Em, respectively. The creative team is currently on the search for a newcomer to play Dorothy. We have a few suggestions. The ***flawless performer is certainly no stranger to bringing musical theater to the screen, having played Deena in the film adaptation of Dreamgirls and the title role in Carmen: A Hip Hopera.Kenny Leon will stage both the television production and subsequent Broadway revival of The Wiz in collaboration with Harvey Fierstein, who will contribute new material to the original book by William F. Brown. The show follows the familiar L. Frank Baum story of Dorothy and her adventures in Oz with a rock-filled revamp. Charlie Smalls’ score includes “Ease on Down the Road,” “No Bad News” and “Home.”This wouldn’t be Beyoncé’s first experience with The Wiz. Check out this clip of a seven-year-old Bey performing “Home” in her hometown of Houston! View Commentslast_img read more

Fantasy Football Injury Updates: Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Jameis Winston could affect Week 15 QB rankings

first_imgWEEK 15 NON-PPR RANKINGS: Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | KickerPatrick Mahomes injury updateA hit in the first half Sunday had Mahomes getting up and shaking his right (throwing) hand. He never left the game, though. Andy Reid said afterward that he could tell Mahomes “wasn’t gripping all that well,” while Mahomes added, “It doesn’t feel great right now but it’s something that you play with.”Kansas City plays a tricky Denver defense in Week 15, and no, you’re not sitting Mahomes, but maybe you’d consider sitting a secondary weapon like Sammy Watkins if it seems like Mahomes won’t be playing at 100 percent.WEEK 15: Top Waiver PickupsTom Brady injury newsBrady attended his postgame press conference Sunday with his right elbow heavily wrapped. “I just got hit right on my elbow, it’s fine,” Brady told reporters. “Probably be on the injury report, but I’ll be there next Sunday (against the Bengals).”Brady’s elbow might not be enough to keep him off the field, but his play should probably keep him out of your fantasy lineups. He’s thrown multiple touchdowns just once in the Patriots’ past five games and often looks on a different page than his WRs not named Julian Edelman. Even with the great Bengals matchup, you might be able to do better than Brady in Week 15.WEEK 15 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end Jameis Winston injury statusWinston missed the first series of the second half Sunday as the television broadcast showed him throwing on the sideline while Ryan Griffin was in at QB. Bruce Arians said after the game that X-rays revealed a tiny fracture in Winston’s right (throwing) hand. WEEK 15 DFS LINEUPS:FD Cash | FD GPP | DK Cash | Y! Cash | Y! GPPIt was classic Winston on Sunday – 456 yards and four touchdowns paired with three interceptions. Assuming Winston is active in Week 15 against the Lions, he remains a maddeningly productive QB1. What’s more notable might be Mike Evans’ hamstring injury, but that didn’t seem to slow down Winston in the second half Sunday. Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and Jameis Winston all look likely to play in Week 15 despite getting dinged up Sunday. Things could change as we get additional injury updates throughout the week, but you can probably count on these three quarterbacks the same as you always would in QB rankings (although there’s a case to be made against Brady that you’ll see below). The fantasy playoffs would be a bad time for these QBs to sit out and force us to watch Chad Henne, Jarrett Stidham or Ryan Griffin. For news on banged-up WRs Calvin Ridley, Mike Evans, DJ Chark, and DeVante Parker, go here; for the latest on injured RBs Derrius Guice, Derrick Henry, and more, go here; for the latest on ailing TEs Noah Fant, Ryan Griffin, Mark Andrews, and Jared Cook, click here; for updates on injured TEs Gerald Everett, Evan Engram, and Greg Olsen, go here; for updates on WRs Adam Thielen, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Will Fuller, and T.Y.
