More Than 12 Tons of Cocaine Headed for Mexico Are Seized in Colombia

first_imgBy Dialogo May 25, 2011 More than twelve tons of cocaine that were going to be sent to Mexico were seized in the port of Cartagena (in northern Colombia, on the Caribbean), the Colombian Navy announced in a statement. Adm. Roberto García, head of naval operations in Cartagena, indicated that according to preliminary investigations, the drugs belonged to the Los Rastrojos [The Stubble] gang, made up of drug traffickers and former paramilitaries. No one was detained in the operation. This seizure is the largest reported so far in 2011, according to the authorities. The drugs were found in a container loaded with unrefined sugar that was headed for the Mexican city of Veracruz and were detected by drug-sniffing dogs in the port of Cartagena. Colombia is the world’s largest producer of cocaine, with 410 tons in 2009, according to UN figures.last_img read more

PPP/C awaits State-broadcaster’s invoices for ‘political advertisements’ – Rohee

first_imgNCN forensic auditSubsequent to the report of the forensic audit conducted on the state broadcaster, National Communications Network (NCN) which revealed that the company failed to bill the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) for advertisements it aired, totalling some $18,204,750, the party’s General Secretary Clemet Rohee has alleged that the PPP never received the invoices for these advertisements from the company. The summary of PPP/C’s advertisements aired by NCN includes $4,704,000 for 100.1 Fresh FM; $5,667,500 for 98.1 Hot FM; 3,878,250 for Channel 11 and $3,955,000 for the Voice of Guyana 102.5.Also included in the PPP/C’s debt is $12,988,500, which was recorded as Public Service Announcements (PSA). The auditor pointed out that NCN could not have presented a documented policy on PSAs, but noted that political advertisements are not approved as PSAs.Meanwhile as it relates to 2015, PPP/C was not invoiced for advertisements aired by NCN to the tune of $3,708,200.In relation to the PPP/C advertisements during the 2015 Elections Campaign, $39,200 was for 100.1 Fresh FM; $1,453,750 for 98.1 Hot FM; $492,000 for Channel 11 and $1,723,250 for Voice of Guyana 102.5.The General Secretary stated that the Party had requested the relevant invoices and documents from the NCN some time ago, but they are yet to receive such.“We have asked for the data, we have asked for the invoices… we have also asked for the materials to be attached as proof and evidence of these debts and we haven’t received anything as yet,” he stated. When asked whether the Party would pay the outstanding monies, Rohee responded in the affirmative, saying “the Party pays for whatever services it purchases or solicits or procures or it outsources”.However, he added that they will not be issuing any new calls for this document as “they [NCN] have correspondence from us that remains unanswered”.In relation to the audit reports that were submitted, the General Secretary related that he is yet to analyse them, however; he is of the opinion that the past chairpersons of the companies being audited should have played a part in reviewing the reports.“We have not seen those audit reports, I understand that they are on the Ministry of Finance’s website but I haven’t accessed them as yet. And we have always maintained that the Audit reports should be shared with the former chairmen of these boards and with those members of the boards who served so that they could give their assessments of what is in these audit reports. I don’t think those who are serving now can do that as it’s early,” Rohee stated.last_img read more

Fist Handle design Metal teeth Afro Hair Comb : A kitchen tool, not a hair one

first_img Sorry i made a mistake in the last review. It was excellent and on time. That was meant for a different seller x. I couldn’t buy one in the high street as good as this one, they were plastic and the teeth were to thick. This one is just perfect for me i would recoded it highly to anyone. Great comb for medium sized afro. Great comb for medium sized afro. However i just wish the picks where a little longer becaaue when u pick ur hair it doesnt reach the midle of your head. I use this item to cut onions, cucumbers etc. I wanted this for holding onions and such like to cut them and it works great. It doesn’t look like this picture and i don’t have long hair. But it is absolutely perfect for holding onions and other stuff while i slice them, which was the reason i bought it. Another use for this comb which is very useful. I have actually bought these for holding food such as onions in place while cutting them. Perfect size, lovely finish, combs well and doesn’t cut hair like other combs, very pleased with my purchase, will buy some more for spares. Ive had this for over 6 months now. Still my favorite afro comb. Great even with thick/ rough hair. I’ve got really tough hair and one of the teeth fell out at some point. A kitchen tool, not a hair one. Used for holding fruit or veg still for easy slicing, a great addition to kitchen tools. Well made but minor cosmetic difference to picture. Feels sturdy and arrived quickly. Functions 100%only gripe is that it doesn’t look like the picture. It’s one of those copycat versions that has the circle cross window bit in the handle. Arrived on time and does what is suggests on the blurb.I utilized it for a distinct objective as a kitchen utensil to aid slice veggies, but it seems like a strong comb.It does not look particularly the identical but nevertheless very good. Solution is nice but it is marginally even larger than described with a like cross in the center just before the handle part with the fist. I would advocate the seller to update the picture of the product. My son has long gone by way of a number of plastic afro combs around the years. Teeth are strong, very good grip handle. Although i think would be even better if the space between the comb was larger for. Although i think would be even better if the space between the comb was larger for children with thicker hair because with this one you have to nib at those thick air at the back of the head until it loosen up enough to comb properly. That been said this comb is a must if your child`s got afro hair. My brother loved his afro comb, he still uses it like mad. There isn’t any bad things to say about this afro comb as its really good. I bought this for my husband. It’s good quality and he go everywhere with it. Bought this comb for my daughter 4a hair. It isn’t the best at detangling her thick hair, as the teeth a too close together. It is well made and of good quality, which is amazing for the price. It does not look exactly the same but still goodbut it looks like a sturdyAlthough i think would be even better if the space between the comb was larger for Perfect Afro comb!Strong and ResilientBest Afro Comb YetFist Handle design Metal teeth Afro Hair Comb. National crop commodity organizations looking to re-focus efforts moving forward

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest At the national level, corn, soybean and wheat commodity organizations are looking to assess their priorities for the future and focus on their strengths. There was an update outlining the plans for the future from each national organization at the December Ohio Grain Farmers Symposium held in Columbus. The National Corn Growers Association’s strategic plan will seek to enhance consumer trust, and related objectives. The plan will include strategies for key NCGA programs in that effort, including its participation in the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, CommonGround and the Corn Farmers Coalition.“We are looking into where we want to be at in five years with the development of a strategic plan,” said Anthony Bush, who serves on the NCGA Board and farms in Morrow County. “We felt like we were an inch deep and a mile wide and we felt like we really needed to focus on what we were good at. We are working on that and it will be coming out the end of January.”Ohio’s Jed Bower, of Fayette County, is serving on the NCGA Public Policy Action Team overseeing the development of the strategic plan. The American Soybean Association is also taking a strategic look at goals for the future.“ASA has gone through a large change in the past year. We are trying to find out where our pinpoint should be and it needs to be with our relationships with our senators and representatives on the important issues for us. We need to build domestic demand and expand our international market access,” said Bret Davis, who serves on the ASA board and farms in Delaware County. “The new ASA strategic plan focuses on demand goals, policy, trade and regulatory issues, and providing additional financial resources for policy work through new opportunities and providing states with flexibility to let them do what they do best.”These goals encompass a broad range of issues that will demand attention in the coming years.“High oleic soybeans are making a big difference in what our food systems are going to be needing. And aquaculture is a good place to use soybean meal in the food rations and that has been a real plus in the meal markets. It is a growing market that we can supply,” Davis said. “We are looking at freedom to operate too. If we can’t do the job that we are allowed to do by our consumers and regulators, it hurts in our pockets.”A strategy for the future certainly must include the recent changes in the Panama Canal, a key transportation boon for soybeans in particular.“We just went to Panama and got to see the Canal as it was being finished — what a difference that will make to allow us to move our beans to where they need to go,” Davis said.Other key issues include biotech labeling, a possible two-year extension on the biodiesel tax credit, and important trade relationships, including Cuba.“One of the great things I have seen in the last few years is that the soy industry is working so well together and our farmer-to-farmer relations have been fantastic and that is what it takes — working together for the soybean industry,” Davis said.David Schemm, a Kansas farmer with the National Association of Wheat Growers, talked about the importance of a strategic plan for the nation’s wheat growers.“The National Wheat Action Plan is in the beginning stages right now to get profitability back into wheat. It is not one single area but several areas that are needed to get profitability back into wheat right now. Mills are helping transition acres into organic wheat production to satisfy a market that they need more supply for. We are not saying organic is for everyone but it may work to increase profitability for some farms,” Schemm said. “We represent a huge part of the country geographically. Our major policy areas we have been working on for the past year are farm bill implementation, transportation and tax policy. We need to have one strong voice in agriculture on one united front on these issues. Grassroots engagement is the key.”The idea behind the Wheat Action Plan is to raise productivity so that wheat no longer loses acreage to corn and soybeans by being less economically appealing. NAWG calculates that for every $10 spent on public and private industry corn research in 2014, only 70 cents went into wheat research.Additional goals in the plan included genetic improvements for wheat yields, developing strong resistance to fusarium head blight (or scab), improved rust resistance for high moisture years, and drought tolerance. Opening trade barriers and expanding wheat exports are also key priorities.last_img read more
