Five big Liverpool transfer stories – will signing make ‘massive difference’?

first_img 5. Liverpool not getting Naby Keita, say Leipzig – The 22-year-old midfielder has been on the receiving end of much praise this season, as Leipzig have secured qualification to the Champions League for next season. He’s been at the club since 2016 and manager Ralph Hasenhuttl believes he will remain with the club “forever.” 4. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain considering Anfield move – According to the Telegraph, Oxlade-Chamberlain is considering leaving Arsenal for Liverpool. The midfielder is said to be tempted by the prospect of playing in a central midfield role, though will most likely wait to see what happens with Arsenal manager’s role. His current contract expires in 2018 and could still cost £25m. 5 3. Salah is an alternative to no.1 target – Reports surfacing this week suggest Liverpool will make a move for Roma winger Mohamed Salah if they cannot secure Julian Brandt to sign. The 20-year-old forward is very much in demand, but is cautious about moving if he will not be able to play regularly. Salah almost joined Liverpool in 2014 before his head was turned by Chelsea. 5 Here’s what is being reported about Liverpool’s summer transfer plans. The club are currently third in the Premier League, one point clear of Man City with three games remaining, and five in front of Man United.Who the club sign will depend on whether or not they qualify for the Champions League, but here are the latest rumours.Remain up to date with all the latest Liverpool news here. 5 5 2. Liverpool to fight for Jordan Pickford – In April, Klopp ruled out a move for Joe Hart because he didn’t need another goalkeeper. “It is not for us in this moment and hopefully not in the future – not because of Joe but because we already have two strong goalkeepers,” he said about speculation linking the 30-year-old with a move. Now, though, there is talk about 23-year-old Pickford becoming a Liverpool player and the club will fight Everton for the £20m-rated Sunderland man. 5 1. Michael Keane to bolster Liverpool defence? – Keane will be leaving Burnley in the summer and Liverpool are one club linked with the 24-year-old centre-back. Former Reds stopper, Jamie Carragher, said he’s not sure Keane is an upgrade on the current defenders. Carragher is a fan of the player, but isn’t sure if he is what is needed. “If you’re spending £25m on a centre-back he has to go straight in your team and make a massive difference” he told Sky Sports. “I don’t think he is quite at that level to come in and make a massive difference.” last_img read more
