CoSIDA ReleaseFRISCO, Texas – Sophomore defender Carli Arthurs of Stephen F. Austin was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team while junior forward Kaitlyn Joy of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi earned a Second Team selection, the organization announced Thursday. Joy also holds a perfect 4.00 mark with a major in environmental science. The junior defender from Dripping Springs, Texas, helped pace the Islanders to their most successful season in program history. A&M-Corpus Christi advanced to the postseason this year for just the second time since its inaugural 2013 season. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December. Arthurs holds a 4.00 grade point average with a major in mathematics. She is the only member of the District 7 team with a perfect GPA. She helped the Ladyjacks to a runner-up finish at the 2017 Southland Conference Soccer Tournament, earning all-tournament distinction along with honorable mention all-conference after the regular season. The Ladyjacks finished the season ranked first in conference play in goals allowed (eight) and goals against average (.72) and ranked second with six shutouts in 11 Southland contests.
